Is the M4 coming to the MacBook? ›

According to Gurman, the entry-level M4 14-inch MacBook Pro will be released first, followed by the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max chips (likely end of 2024 or early 2025).

Apple in October 2023 overhauled the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, adding next-generation M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips and a minor display update. The October 2023 MacBook Pro models have received no design changes and continue to come in 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch size options with mini-LED displays.

We can expect the same MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models, with largely the same design and features, albeit with nuances and upgrades here and there. The only major upgrade rumored is the step up to the M4 processor, of course, which should make a considerable difference to performance.
